Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a great source of damage, more AD or even more attachments.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be heavier.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. item upgrading are updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the cost.
Upgrading a piece of armor to its maximum upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by doing side quests, or killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost that is based on a specific number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment with low levels of upgrade and high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the best tier of benefits and blessings.
To level up quicker, players usually prioritise upgrading their weapons. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons favored by their teammates to make them more powerful as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created using the process of jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem and a number of specific chemicals at a table. The higher the tier of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it will give different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get these. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with another jewel of the same type without destroying it. However you can only swap out the jewels in a piece of equipment only once.
It is common to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character a variety of small, but beneficial advantages. They are available in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinket a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be put into any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and only works with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows the hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket into a red one in the middle and top players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
